Painting

My work for “Tread Softly” is inspired by my experience of the gentler moments of the Pilbara landscape.  While the Pilbara is known for its extremes of heat and harshness, I wanted to share these slower and softer parts of the whole.  Through these works, I am to share the serenity and subtle resilience of this landscape, inviting the viewer to appreciate the delicate balance and profound peace that can be found in even the most rugged terrains.

Biography

Anita Phillips is a Western Australian visual artist with an appreciation and respect for "place". She looks to experience and paint landscapes of isolated, challenging and solitary beauty... Raised on a farm in the Wheatbelt of WA, many of Anita’s works are grounded in her love of the big skies, long horizons and harsh weather of the Australian landscape. Anita works mainly in oils and cold wax, on canvas and panel. Plein air painting and drawing has become an increasingly significant aspect of her process and continues to inform her studio work.
